Architecture And Engineering

While not required, most technicians earn associate's degrees in engineering technology or related subject. Vocational-technical schools and community colleges often offer technician programs. They offer certificates and degrees but may have a different emphasis on the curriculum. Technical schools, for example, may focus more on practical training.

While all education in the fine arts can be preparation for this work, a bachelor's degree in art, fine art, or design is typically the minimum requirement for this position. Some workers pursue a graduate degree and earn a Master of Fine Arts, in addition.

Building And Grounds Cleaning

Grounds maintenance workers provide a pleasant outdoor environment by ensuring that the grounds of houses, businesses, and parks are attractive, orderly, and healthy. '

Business And Financial

A bachelor's degree in accounting or a relevant discipline is the usual path toward becoming an accountant or auditor. Some schools offer degree programs and training for a specific kind of accounting or auditing. Master's degrees are also an option for those looking to advance their careers, make themselves more attractive in the job market, or to hone their skills. Computer And Information Technology

Computer and information research scientists invent and design new approaches to computing technology and find innovative uses for existing technology. They study and solve complex problems in computing for business, medicine, science, and other fields.'

Construction And Extraction

Boilermakers assemble, install, and repair boilers, closed vats, and other large vessels or containers that hold liquids and gases.'

Education Training And Library

Adult literacy and high school equivalency diploma teachers instruct adults in basic skills, such as reading, writing, and speaking English. They also help students earn their high school diploma.'

Entertainment And Sports

Actors express ideas and portray characters in theater, film, television, and other performing arts media. They also work at theme parks or other live events. They interpret a writer’s script to entertain or inform an audience.'

Farming Fishing And Forestry

Agricultural workers maintain the quality of farms, crops, and livestock by operating machinery and doing physical labor under the supervision of farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural managers.'

Food Preparation And Serving

Bartenders mix drinks and serve them directly to customers or through wait staff.'

Healthcare

Athletic trainers specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating muscle and bone injuries and illnesses. Exercise physiologists develop fitness and exercise programs that help patients recover from chronic diseases and improve cardiovascular function, body composition, and flexibility. '

Installation Maintenance And Repair

Aircraft and avionics equipment mechanics and technicians repair and perform scheduled maintenance on aircraft. They also may perform aircraft inspections as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).'

Legal

Arbitrators, mediators, and conciliators help resolve conflicts outside of the court system by facilitating negotiation and dialogue between disputing parties.'

Life Physical And Social Science

Agricultural and food science technicians assist agricultural and food scientists by performing duties such as measuring and analyzing the quality of food and agricultural products.'

Management

Administrative services managers plan, direct, and coordinate supportive services of an organization. Their specific responsibilities vary by the type of organization and may include keeping records, distributing mail, and planning and maintaining facilities.'

Math

Actuaries analyze the financial costs of risk and uncertainty. They use mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to assess the risk that an event will occur and they help businesses and clients develop policies that minimize the cost of that risk. Actuaries’ work is essential to the insurance industry.'

Media And Communication

Announcers present music, news, and sports and may provide commentary or interview guests about these topics or other important events. Some act as masters of ceremonies (emcees) or disc jockeys (DJs) at weddings, parties, or clubs.'

Military

Members of the U.S. military service train for and perform a variety of tasks in order to maintain the U.S. national defense. Servicemembers work in occupations specific to the military, such as fighter pilots or infantrymen. Many other members work in occupations that are equivalent to civilian occupations, such as nurses, doctors, and lawyers.'

Office And Administrative Support

Bill and account collectors, sometimes called collectors, try to recover payment on overdue bills. They negotiate repayment plans with debtors and help them find solutions to make paying their overdue bills easier.'

Personal Care And Service

Animal care and service workers provide care for animals. They feed, water, groom, bathe, and exercise pets and other nonfarm animals. Job tasks vary by position and place of work.'
