Do for your child what he or she cannot do for themselves and begin to save. Some day they will thank you for it. I recommend you to have a regular savings account, look into money market accounts and certificates of deposit, which offer higher interest rates and are less accessible to you for casual borrowing. It's simply a better way of learning for a lot of people and it also takes some stress off of other areas of the economy while simultaneously providing opportunity to people who couldn't normally attend post secondary school. However, I'm not exactly sure why foreign students would be particularly eager to get a US-based education, unless it's far cheaper than their local options. Last time I checked, the US is pretty low on the education ladder, for K-12 and beyond. Just because a greater portion of our population can go to college doesn't necessarily mean the schooling is any better than in other countries.
